Should Imran Khan Say bye to Bollywood Industry?

Being associated with the Perfectionist of Bollywood, Imran Khan pretty much had his endeavors in mind. He always wanted to be a Bollywood hero. But what he didn’t know was that acting takes a lot more than just being related to a superstar.

Imran Khan became famous because of his mamujaan Aamir Khan, who helped him take his first step in the industry. When he debuted with ‘Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na’ everyone just knew one thing that he is the nephew of Aamir. And thanks to Aamir’s name being associated with him, his debut movie was a success. But this was it for Imran, as none of his flicks after this one managed to bring him in a better picture.

After that Imran went to experiments with action thrillers like ‘Kidnap’ and ‘Luck’. Both the films were a disaster at the Box-Office and Imran proved that action is not his cup of tea. Later Imran did many movies from which most of the films were flops and even his acting wasn’t appreciated. He was said to be an actor who can neither act nor emote properly in camera. One of his biggest hits till date is 'Delhi Belly' but that film too worked well thanks to a good storyline and acting of the supporting cast of Kunal Roy Kapur and Vir Das, who were most appreciated by critics as well as masses.

Should Imran Khan Say bye to Bollywood Industry?

Ranbir and Imran mainly started their career together with a difference of a year, but the talented Ranbir moved on further and became one of the top most actors of B-Town. While Imran is still an actor who depends on his mamu’s name. He has not yet made a mark with his acting, dancing or even looks. Even when we talk about the actors styling, Imran’s simple looks are quite outdated and he looks pale thanks to his not so good looking looks, while, Ranbir, in every movie manages to look distinctive and unique. The two actors are different when it comes to their dancing skills as well. While on one hand, Ranbir is considered one of the best dancers of Bollywood, Imran lacks in this area as well.

The actor is also very much backward when it comes to promoting his films. Not so open while talking to the media, the movies he promotes seems boring before we watch it. Whereas if you see Ranbir enjoys the promotions and that makes the audience to watch his films.

And this year with back to back disasters like ‘Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola’, ‘Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara!’ and now ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mein’, Imran has finely proved that whichever genre films he does, he cannot be a successful actor.

So, we would really like to recommend you one thing Imran that please leave Bollywood and spare us from your horrible acting. And if you are still interested in the field, go ahead and venture into direction or production, because you are better off camera than on.

Box office report: Both Sunny Deol and Kareena Kapoor Imran Khan’s films struggling at the box office

Neither Sunny Deol’s Singh Saab The Great nor the Kareena-Imran Khan starrer Gori Tere Pyaar Mein have managed to get the cash registers ringing. However, Sunny’s film is doing well at the single screens. So who has won this box office battle?

The jodi of Sunny Deol and Anil Sharma, who made box office history with Gadar – Ek Prem Katha hasn’t been able to attract movie goers this time around. Their out-and-out action flick Singh Saab The Great (SSTG) is having a tough time at the ticket windows. And the case is no different with Kareena Kapoor Khan and Imran Khan’s romcom Gori Tere Pyaar Mein (GTPM). According to Boxofficeindia, “Gori Tere Pyaar Main and Singh Saab The Great both opened below the mark. Gori Tere Pyaar Mein opened to a poor 25-30 percent all over. Singh Saab The Great managed good to decent collections in some parts like Punjab, UP and Rajasthan of around 40-50 percent but places like Pune, Bangalore and Kolkata were just 15-20 percent. At some single screen centres in the North it was housefull or near housefull but it makes little change to the overall picture.”
Both Sunny Deol and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s films struggling at the box office

On the other hand, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela starring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh is still holding rock steady at the box office. “Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela had a very good first week of around Rs 75 crore nett with phenomenal business in Mumbai. The start of the second week has seen steady collections despite the film not showing in UP from Friday due to a ban,” reported Boxofficeindia.

If Ram-Leela continues its good run at the box office, then SSTG and GTPM’s first week collection may not be flattering. Also, Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Bullett Raja starring Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha will release this week, wethinks it will make the numbers game even tougher for Sunny paaji and Kareena’s film!

Imran Khan : I believe acting is like exercising

Excited about his new film Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, the honey-eyed Khan spoke to us extensively about being paired with Kareena Kapoor Khan once again and how he is learning more about his craft with new projects coming his way…

Check out the entire interview regarding Imran Khan:
Imran Khan walks into the room holding a plastic plate. The freshly steamed sweet potatoes, the baked tuna fish and a couple of sticks of steamed asparagus that are his lunch make the hot samosas in a bowl on the side-table look like manna from culinary heaven. The 30-year-old actor looks long and hard at the fried snacks, shakes his head in disapproval and whips out a fork and a spoon from his bag before digging in to his specially designed healthy diet. He is on a strict regimen that demands him to be careful with what he eats. So as we enjoy a cup of coffee with the delightful samosas while sitting in the Dharma Productions office, Imran talks about the soon-to-release Gori Tere Pyaar Mein in between bites of his gourmet feast….

Our secret birdie tells us that you were not particularly excited about the role you are playing in Gori Tere Pyaar Mein when you first read the script. Is that right?

No. Actually, I did not like the second half the movie. I loved the first half. While reading the script, suddenly I realised that Punit Malhotra’s film moves from a happy rom-com kind of space to a village. I had apprehensions about that sudden switch. But Punit was adamant about what he wanted. I made him do two more drafts to see if he could come up with something else, but still I wasn’t kicked about the second half. And then Punit called me one day and said that he had made one more draft and wanted me to read it again. This time, I realised that I was settling for less in the beginning. I wanted the film to be one more I Hate Love Stories kind of film, but Punit wanted more layers to the story. He wanted more emotions and he was insisting on that. Finally, I agreed with Punit’s vision and the way he had envisaged the project

So far you have done mainly light-hearted entertainers. This film is again a romantic comedy. Is this genre more up your alley?

Yes. That’s the reason I can connect very easily with Punit – because we have the same sense of humour that is very urban and subtle. Actually, Punit wanted Saif to work in this movie too, but that did not work out. I think Punit understands my style as an actor and I understand him as a director. I know exactly what he wants, so I can deliver quicker.

Imran khan interview

Did you enjoy working with Kareena again?

People have appreciated our chemistry in Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu. About chemistry, I have a rule- you can’t create it. It’s either there or it isn’t. I believe as an actor if you have to have chemistry with someone, it has to be with Kareena Kapoor!

If Imran Khan has to judge himself in terms of his craft and his achievements, where is he today?

I believe acting is like exercising. The more often you do it, the more comfortable you feel. You can’t do a full a split straightaway. Karte karte ho jaata hain. I am happy with personal growth and I am happy with what I have learned so far, but I am not satisfied. I feel more confident now. I know what I am doing now more than ever before. Initially, so many things would overwhelm me. You need to know where the camera is. You need to where you are supposed to stand and how much you can afford to move, so that you don’t go out of the frame. With more films, you are at ease.

Would it be correct to say that Imran Khan enjoys doing only romantic comedies, considering the choices you have made and your movies that have received a positive response?

Oh yes, comedy is my forte. More than romance, I think comedy works better for me, because I am not a romantic person in real life.

Does having one more male actor alongside help you improvise?

Oh yes. I had so much fun working with Akshay Kumar in Once Upon A time in Mumbai Dobaaraa. In Delhi Belly there were Kunal Roy Kapoor and Vir Das. In Mere Brother Ki Dulhan I worked with Ali Zafar. Working with boys is fun, because girls take more time to get ready for the shot. Their hair, makeup and costumes have to look prim and proper, but with boys it is different. You can pack your bags soon and go home quickly.

After Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, what next?

My next film is Bhavesh Joshi, which will be directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. He is still finishing his screenplay and we hope that we will start shooting by January or February next year. It’s a story of a rebel. It is not a superhero film or science fiction, as wrongly reported. There’s nothing supernatural about the film.

Aamir Khan’s Dhoom: 3 is making all the right noises. What’s your take on the trailer and the film?

The trailer looks mind blowing. Without a shadow of a doubt it’s the best action movie coming out of India.

Imran Khan : Don't blame Bollywood Industry for society's ills

Bollywood actor Imran Khan says movies are often made a "soft target" and blamed for society's ills.

Imran, 30, feels such problems can be solved only through education and change in mindset.

"Blaming cinema for the ills in society is a very simplistic outlook. Movies are a soft target and the film industry is not able to fight back. We are held victims to a mob mentality," Khan told PTI here. Khan was in the city to promote his upcoming film 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein', a romantic comedy that stars Kareena Kapoor as his leading lady, directed by Punit Malhotra and produced by Karan Johar.

Amid growing incidents of violence and abuse against women in India, a section of the society has put the blame on song, lyrics and choreography in movies, saying they are disrespectful towards women. Khan is known for his support for social causes including organising voter drives to get people to cast their ballots. "To vote is the smallest thing that you can do to be part of the democratic process.

If you do not vote you have no right to complain. You cannot sit and mourn about the state of the country if you have not cast your vote," he said. The 'Delhi Belly' star said that the Indian film industry is currently going through a renaissance and is at a transitional phase where movie makers and actors are experimenting with storytelling and filmmaking.

"It is the best of all possible times and it is only getting better. There is an audience for films which we thought nobody would be interested in, it is a renaissance," the actor said. Khan also said it is unfortunate that movies and actors often face opposition by sections of society that raise objection to a word in the film's title or lyrics, claiming they are disrespectful or derogatory in nature.

"It happens time and again, we are forced to change song lyrics, forced to change titles of movies. Ultimately you are being ruled by the fear of a mob, who will come burn a theatre or stone houses in protest," he said.

Having worked in movies like 'Matru Ki Bijli Ka Mandola' and 'Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobara', Khan said the year 2013 was a time of 'tremendous growth' for him as an actor, "I want to keep doing work that makes me happy and one that I will not be ashamed of later in life," he said.
