Rajinikanth turns 63 , Happy Birthday Rajni Sir

Rajinikanth turns 63 , Happy Birthday Rajni Sir

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth today turned 63 and is said to be celebrating his birthday in native town Bangalore.

Sources close to the actor said he had earlier left for the city, keeping with his usual practice of staying away from Chennai on his birthday every year. However, he had met his fans last year.

Die-hard fans of the veteran actor have organised special prayers and welfare activities to celebrate their idol's birthday.

Rajinikanth's is a typical rags-to-riches story, as he has transformed his mundane life as a bus conductor in Bangalore to that of a most sought after actor, with a frenzied fan base hailing him as their 'Thalaivar' (The Leader). From what started as a small role in his mentor K Balachander's 'Aboorva Ragangal' in 1975, Rajinikanth soon charted his path as a preferred villain before opting for more positive roles.

Whether it be portraying struggles of a low-class printing unit employee in 'Aarilirunthu Arubathu Varai' (From 6 to 60) or portraying the divinity of Sage Ragavendra, the actor has proved he was second to none when it came to challenging roles.

He broke many stereotypes of a hero, including holding a cigarette with much style while mouthing dialogues in his own inimitable way, that made many a young fan go crazy. Previously, Tamil film heroes avoided scenes of smoking or drinking.

However, the smoking scenes later turned against him, with the S Ramadoss-led party PMK objecting to his on-screen smoking, claiming he promoted cigarette culture among youth. He has since then largely avoided smoking in his films.

Known for his humility and outspoken nature, he had also courted controversy in 1996, making some remarks against then ruling AIADMK dispensation. He later supported a DMK-Tamil Maanila congress alliance which swept the polls that year.

Rajinikanth has delivered some of the biggest blockbusters of Tamil cinema, and has worked with all big directors including Maniratnam and Shankar.

Currently, he is working in his daughter Soundarya-directed 'Kochadaiiyan', a 3D film being shot using motion capture technology, starring Deepika Padukone, Jackie Shroff and Tamil actor Sarathkumar among others.

We at 4bollywoodlovers wish Rajni Sir a very Happy Birthday.

Dhoom: 3 Music Review

Dhoom: 3 music review: Misses the bulls eye by miles :

Dhoom 3 music review

Rating: 2 out of 5

Music: Pritam

Lyrics: Amitabh Bhattacharya

Singers: Siddharth Mahadevan, Shilpa Rao, Sunidhi Chauhan, Mohit Chauhan, Aditi Singh Sharma, Shivam Mahadevan, Anish Sharma, Julius Packiam, Naya, Pritam

Packed with stars like Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra, Dhoom:3 has undoubtedly become one of the most anticipated movies of the year. Slated to hit the theaters on December 20, the movie has already exalted expectations of the audience, all thanks to the blockbuster effect of the past two installments. The series is famous for the fast paced bikes and the adrenaline rush they bring along, but without engaging music all of that seems insipid. Pritam, who has been composing the music for the series since the beginning, was expected to take it all, a notch further up this time. But has the music really stood up to our expectations?

• Malang starts with an Arabic classic musical milieu and is healthily supported by apt lyrics, still there is something amiss. A Sufi song, with contemporary beats which has been planned in an extremely desi way – doesn’t sound quite right. Although the music is good, the song somehow doesn’t create that magic in your ears. The only good part of the song is where the Ragas come in the background as chorus and Shilpa Rao’s strong voice quality overshadows Siddharth Mahadevan’s singing attempts in the song. Overall, a very average song.

• Kamli is Katrina Kaif’s version of Aishwarya Rai’s Crazy Kiya Re. The track has some very up-to-date beats in the initial notes of the song, but fails to maintain the excitement throughout the catchy tune. Sunidhi Chauhan’s voice is always a delight to hear, and with Katrina’s dance moves grabbing everyone by the eye balls, this track would surely rock the charts. Having said all that – the song is just a regular Bollywood song that is released few years late in time. It feels outdated, but is still good to hear.

• Tu Hi Junoon is a typical montage song and seems to be hanging by a loose thread in the album. A much disengaged track, the lyrics are not very peppy and it is just the melodious voice of Mohit Chauhan that comes across as a relief. Much like Malang, the lyrics and vocals individually, are spectacular, but as a package, they miserably fail at creating any magic. It can be touted, as perhaps, the weakest song in the album – a plain, passable average song, which might work for you, once you watch the video.

• Dhoom Machale Dhoom comes at a point where the listener seems to have lost all hopes from the album, but is taken for a pleasant surprise. Sung by newbie Aditi Singh Sharma, this track is remixed version of the previous Dhoom machale tracks. Western instruments add a lot of fast based rap into this track, but it’s the dhol that puts you off. The song provides nothing new with respect to the tune, has become the anthem for this franchise. The track is fine, does justice to the lyrics, is a listener’s delight as compared to other tracks, and comes out as a classic Dhoom Machale Dhoom’s revamped version.

• Bande Hain Hum Uske is an impactful chorus sung by kids—Shivam Mahadevan and Anish Sharma. It has some heavy duty chords and depicts the pain in the film. The best in the album, it has been well drafted, and is a perfect score for an optimistic prayer song. Bande hain hum uske is not the kind of song which you will listen to every day, but will certainly listen to, when you seek motivation. A pleasant take back from this album.

• Dhoom Tap is well-arranged and satisfactorily held up by the background Dhoom score. The track is an all feet talking instrumental song which blends well with the other tracks.

• Dhoom 3 Overture is really nice to hear, if you are into instrumentals. It is an instrumental version of Bande hain hum uske, and the track begins and slowly ascends onto you and nicely depicts a pleasant musical accordion just as soon as it picks up. This is another must hear from the album with all of its well-arranged shifts and patterns.

• Dhoom Machale Dhoom Arabic Version does not make much sense as it is more of a promotional song. The album could have ended without this track as far as melodic overtures are concerned. The song is, although, unique and has been sung by Naya, seems like a take on Tata Young’s version in Dhoom.

Verdict: Largely, Dhoom:3 is once again a hardcore commercial album, as has been the case with it’s preceding versions. This album doesn’t have tracks that will straight away appeal to you, and much like Krrish 3, the music of Dhoom:3 tastes more like 2004, than 2014. The music surely does not spell doom! Go ahead, and check it out for yourself.

Aditya Chopra apologizes to Abhishek Bachchan

Aditya Chopra apologizes to Abhishek Bachchan

With promotion of the latest Yash Raj action adventure flick, ‘Dhoom 3’ in full swing, it has been noticed that Abhishek Bachchan has not been given the treatment he deserved as a consistent star of the film series. Although seen in both the prequels and an integral part of the third film of the series, he was given a miss at a few promotional events whereas Aamir Khan was focused on in entirety. We heard from a source that at the First Look launch of the film ‘Dhoom 3’, it was Aamir Khan who stole the show with his interaction while Abhishek was reduced to a quiet presence in the background.  It was noticed at a few other promotional events too where Abhishek was conspicuously missing, especially at the Music launch of the film where Aamir along with co-star Katrina Kaif were present. It was later revealed that Abhishek had no idea about the event. It is no secret that Aamir loves taking centre stage and being in control at everything he does. But it was surprising to note the marketing team of ‘Dhoom 3’ skipping such a valuable detail.

Being a gentleman, Abhishek Bachchan decided to bite the bullet.  Instead of bringing the injustice to the forefront, he stayed calm and let it pass. Another source said that although he was not comfortable with the way Aamir Khan was gathering attention at his expense, Abhishek wanted to keep quiet about it. It was then that the Yash Raj Production Team realized their mistake and Aditya Chopra was seen visiting Abhishek Bachchan to apologize and make amends for the injustice meted out to him by the team.

Abhishek Bachchan had reportedly sustained injury during workout in December. Nevertheless, he appeared for the promotional launch of the movie with his torn elbow and did not make a fuss about it. After such dedication towards his work and responsibility, the kind of treatment he has received is uncalled for. And one cannot forget that Abhishek Bachchan has had a long standing relationship with the Yash Raj Banner and has several Yash Raj hits to his name.

Realizing their oversight, Aditya Chopra with team in tow visited Abhishek Bachchan to apologize and make amends. We do not know what words passed between them. But all seems forgiven and back on track. Well, it is never too late to say sorry, what say, Aditya Chopra?
