Vivek Oberoi has been approached to play the younger version of Narendra Modi in the US-based filmmaker Mitesh Patel’s upcoming project based on the life and times of the aspiring Prime Minister.
The Hindi film was announced recently with Paresh Rawal -- the best bet to essay the older version of the Gujarat Chief Minister due to the physical similarities.
Says Patel, “While tossing ideas about who can play the young Narendra Modi, we all thought Vivek Oberoi was a good choice. He is keen to experiment with his roles and this will give an ideal opportunity for him.”
The filmmaker adds, “My production team members have been talking to him and we have another meeting coming up soon. He has asked for a detailed character sketch.”
Incidentally, before Modi began his political leanings he used to run a tea stall and had even worked in the staff canteen of the Gujarat Road Transport Corporation.
During the promotions of his film Krrish 3, VO had said that after essaying a drastically different role in the superhero flick, he was looking to take on roles that were challenging. Perhaps playing a younger NaMo is one of them.
There had also been buzz that Rawal would co-produce the film with Patel, but the producer informs, “That decision has not been taken.”
The filmmaker meanwhile has already met Modi and informed him about his project. “He was excited to know that a Hindi movie is being based on him.”
