Karan Johar’s magnum opus Shuddhi is back in the news! The buzz doing the rounds is that Deepika Padukone has now been approached for the lead role in the movie as the makers are thinking of replacing Kareena Kapoor in the film.
Shuddhi hogged the limelight ever since its announcement a few months back. The movie was also special for Karan Johar because he was reuniting the hit jodi of Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor on big screen after almost a decade. Kareena apparently had also started working on her looks for the film.
Kareena Kapoor preps up for ‘Shuddhi’
It’s heard that post the debacle of Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, the makers are contemplating to rope in Deepika Padukone -- the most bankable actress in Bollywood now. “It's true, she has been approached. However, she still needs to read the script and take a decision,” a source is quoted as saying
Also, it’s being said that Kareena Kapoor is not willing to give bulk dates for Shuddhi, which has already been delayed for Hrithik Roshan’s treatment. This could also be the reason why the makers are searching for a replacement.
Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan have never worked together in a film, and if they are cast together in Shuddhi their fresh pairing will bring novelty to the project. It can also be tagged as the biggest replacement of the season as the coming back of Hrithik and Kareena was the "main talking point" of the film.
Earlier, Deepika Padukone had replaced Kareena Kapoor in Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram-Leela.
