Veteran Actor Farooq Sheikh expired

Veteran and seasoned actor Farooq Sheikh expired, late Friday night in Dubai after suffering a sudden heart attack. The actor was 65. His body will be brought to Mumbai later in the day.

Farooq Sheikh,who has been part of very notable parallel films like Shatranj Ke Khiladi by Satyajit Ray, Kissi Se Na Kehna, Noorie and Chashme Buddoor died last night, following a severe heart attack. He is best known for his films during the 1970s and 1980s.

Born on March 25th 1948, Farooq Sheikh was known for picking roles that were 'out of the box'. He began his career in Bollywood in 1973 with Garm Hava. His last two films include Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani in which he played the role of Ranbir Kapoor's father. The actor was also seen in Club 60.

Farooq Sheikh was part of many serials and shows on television and also performed on stage in famous productions such as Tumhari Amrita (1992), alongside Shabana Azmi, directed by Feroz Abbas Khan, and presented the TV show, Jeena Isi Ka Naam Hai (Season 1).

He won the 2010 National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for Lahore. Shaikh was born to Mustafa Shaikh, a Mumbai lawyer and Farida Shaikh in Amroli in Gujarat's Baroda District near Naswadi village near bodeli town. Hailing from a zamindari family, Farooq grew up in luxurious surroundings. He was the eldest of five children.
