'Jeena Yahaan Marna Yahaan Iske Siva Jaana Kahan...'
Like the above lyrics Raj Kapoor believed life to be a three hours long movie segmented into three phases as propagated in his another lyrics that goes, ''Pehla daur bachpan, doosra jawani, teesra budhapa aur uske baad kuch bhi nahi rehta hai.'' That's Raj Kapoor the great showman who gave Indian cinema a new look, style and above all thematic content. His movies mirrored the authentic and naked truth of India and its people. Movies like AWARA, SHREE 420, JAAGTE RAHO, BOOT POLISH to his later movies like PREM ROG, SATYAM SHIVAM SUNDARAM, RAM TERI GANGA MAILI are just a few example who defined the genius filmmaker.

Believe it or not Raj Kapoor made a classic love story exploring between true love and lust in his second movie BARSAAT when he was just 23-years old. After the failure of his debut movie AAG, Raj Kapoor took the plunge but what was applauding is that despite a run-of-the-mill love story he selected a complex love story that preached the meaning of true love. The thought of such a complicated theme being directed by such a young youth is really mind boggling.
The highlight of this movie was it consisted of a complete bunch of debutants like music directors Shanker Jaikishan, lyricist Hasrat Jaipuri and Shailendra and actress Nimmi, all of whom became legends. Even Lata Mangeshkar got her major success from this movie.
